Balance – This helps an image etc look balanced as dark colours will naturally have a heavier feel to them so depending of the style/theme that u want to image to give.
Emphasis – This is when you make a specific element stand out through colour, text, pattern etc. Also placing elements of the image where the eye would naturally been drawn to.
Rhythm – A strong sound, pattern or movement that is repeated, this is often used in any design aspect.
