Different types of animation

  1. hand-drawn
  2. CGI (computer generated imagery)
  3. stop motion
  4. cut out animation
  5. live-action

Hand drawn – to make movement frame by frame, a technique where you draw by hand. Allows good quality and originality but can also take a long time, due to the amount of detail that may be needed.

Rotoscoping – Animators trace live-action movement, frame by frame.

Cel Animation – A cel, short for celluloid, is a transparent sheet on which objects are drawn or painted for traditional, hand-drawn animation.

Limited animation – Limited animation is a process of making animated cartoons that does not redraw entire frames, but often reuses common parts between other frames.

Stop motion – sub genres: include Claymation, Model Animation and now Legomation.

My Idea – i will be doing the hand drawn animation technique, i would like it to start with a normal portrait drawing and then throughout the animation the characters face will slowly melt, nearing to the end i will reverse the animation and the ending so the first image will also be the last image. This animation will be in black and white to enhance the shadows etc, another reason for not adding colour is because of the time we have to complete this task.
